SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE

At least six months notice should be given so that arrangements can be made for pre-marriage education.
Details, along with application forms, of Pre-Marriage courses are available at the Presbytery. A marriage preparation course is essential.

Church Arrangements should be made before booking receptions. By Australian Law bridegroom and bride must be at least 18 years of age. At least one month's Notice of Intention to Marry must be given.

The Usual Place for the celebration of marriage is the parish church of the bridegroom or bride. It is necessary to have permission to be married in a church other than the parish church. Such permission should be obtained before making any other arrangements as it may involve the local priest being required to celebrate the marriage.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on Sundays - by appointment. At least six week's notice must be given to ensure adequate preparation.

Sponsors (Godparents): One sponsor is necessary. If two sponsors are desired one should be a man, the other a woman. They must be practising Catholics and at least 16 years of age. Other baptised Christians may be admitted as Christian Witnesses for the Sacrament.

Baptism Preparation: A special night in preparation is held normally on the third Wednesday of the month at 7.30 p.m. in the church.

Baptism Support Group: A support group, together with the Parish Priest, to prepare parents for baptism of their children and on-going care.
